Larabee's Lepers: Introduction to a new Alternate Universe

Welcome to my very own AU.  I created Larabee's Lepers while I was pondering a story to write for someone special's birthday.  Since we 'met' through the Garrison's Gorillas fandom I thought... hey, what if I introduced Magnificent Seven to World War II?

So I did.

Introduction to Larabee's Lepers

Chris Larabee, regular Army, is given a special assignment... recruit a handfull of men with special talents and form an elite force that can be called upon when the regular army can't be used.  The catch?  His recruits will come from prisons throughout the US.

As this AU is set during World War II, every effort will be made to maintain the "feel" of the '40s.  This means language, attitudes and prejudices.  In other words, the characters are not always "politically correct".  You will see terms such as "Indian" and "Colored" for instance.  Please do not take these terms to be those of the author but only a bid for historical reality.

The Characters:

Lieutenant Christopher A. Larabee - a career Army officer with a less than perfect past.  It is his job to whip the recruits into shape and bring them under his command.  Under his guidance his men will risk life and limb on assignments "regular" soldiers will not be risked on.

Vin "Chief" Tanner - white only by virtue of birth, Tanner was raised on an Indian Reservation.  He has nothing but distain for 'the white man' and doesn't hide it.  Tanner was in prison for a murder he swears he didn't commit.  Vin was recruited for his expertise with any weapon available.

JD Dunne - a hot-tempered thug who was raised in a life of crime.  He enjoyed the life he led and has no interest in living as a law-abiding citizen.  JD was recruited for his expertise with any type of machine he comes in contact with.

Buck Wilmington - a globe-trotting gigilo used to the good life at the expense of the women he charms.  Caught in the wrong bed with the wrong woman, Buck's world collapsed and he went to prison.  Buck was recruited due to his expertise as a body guard and enforcer.

Ezra Standish - a conman of (under)world renown. Ezra wrote the book, but the final chapter was his only failure and his downfall.  He continues to look for a 'free ride'  under Larabee's command.  Ezra was recruited for his abilities with the con.

Sgt. Major Josiah Sanchez - recruited by Larabee to assist him in training his recruits.  Josiah battles the demons of his past while providing guidance to the others.

Pvt. Nathan Jackson - a soldier of color who requested transfer to Larabee's unit.  His official capacity is to care for the units vehicles and munitions, but his training in the healing arts comes in handy from time to time.

Note:  At this time, this is a closed universe (meaning I reserve the right to write all the stories)  However, as soon as I have the universe established, I will be opening it up.
